From Bhava toward Mahabhava: An Afternoon of Yoga Philosophy and Asana Practice with Bill Mahony & Elena Brower

Saturday, Mar 31, 2012 | 1:00pm - 3:30pm

Virayoga Main Studio

Yoga and other spiritual practices — like life in general — can draw forth from within us various and sometimes seemingly contradictory inner states, emotions, sentiments and mental dispositions known collectively in Sanskrt as bhavas. Intentional, heart-centered spiritual practices can help us refine these different bhavas, returning us eventually to the immersion into a single mahabhava, the “great bhava” underneath all of them. Sages have identified this mahabhava as a state of pure love. In this afternoon of yoga philosophy and asana practice, Bill and Elena will lead us as we reflect as yogis and yoginis on the nature of attitude and emotion and on how the yogic refinement of these inner states can lead us toward the experience of a deep, affirming spiritual love that is the heart’s true nature.
