Finding the Core and Holding Steady with Angela Jones Attia

Friday, Feb 24, 2012 | 9:15am - 10:30am

Virayoga Annex

Saturday, Feb 25 9:15-10:30am

When we think of abdominal work, we often think of a grunting and curling. Lying on our backs, we struggle through deep gut wrenching work on the floor, but then have a hard time translating this understanding into standing poses or arm balances.  Instead of using our centers to help us, we often end up simply clenching them. We will explore what it means to really hug the midline while maintaining space and incorporating the core of our bodies in a variety of positions. By truly integrating the arms and legs as well as hollowing out the core to create space, we can achieve greater freedom and stability in every pose. This class is open to any level of student, offering challenge and new ways of working.

Cost: $40/session

Limited to 5 students

Angela Jones Angela is a professional aerialist, yoga instructor, and Pilates instructor. She has always enjoyed challenging herself as well as the students she works with. However, challenge must always come hand in hand with keen listening. Listening carefully to one’s own body and specific set of patterns is what allows us to make challenges exciting rather than treacherous or scary. She hopes that each person walks out of class having felt heard.
