Cath McCarthy

What do The Three Stooges, four-leaf clover hunting, and wine tasting all have in common?  Yoga, according to Cat McCarthy. Whether telling a story on the silver screen or at the beginning of class, Cat sees yoga everywhere.  She makes connections between the everyday details and the big picture, weaving it all into a fun, poignant narrative on the mat.  Her instruction is rooted in dynamic alignment, playful awareness, and soulful self-expression.  Her innovative guidance is applicable to both one’s inner terrain and to the outer world.

An Emmy-nominated filmmaker and Fulbright Scholar, Cat McCarthy balances her time between New York City and her hometown of New Orleans. With over 20 years of practice and 10 years of teaching, she holds certifications in Anusara Yoga, Kripalu Yoga, and Prenatal Yoga for Two. Salmonella food poisoning was the impetus that committed Cat to a yogic path. Healing herself of chronic wrist pain is how she chose an alignment-based and therapeutic style of yoga. And the nourishment of her practice continues to feed her in every aspect of life.

Whether teaching locally around the US or globally conducting workshops, Cat has a reputation as a wonderfully funny storyteller, a remarkably precise practitioner and, above all, a dedicated and passionate yoga instructor.  With street names like “Bobo the Monkey Girl” and “Sister Silver Hair Surprise,” Cat keeps it real and makes learning entertaining and empowering.  Her motto is: Have courage, Buckle up, and Enjoy the ride!   For more information, please visit her website: www.nolayoga.com
