Virayoga Sagara Immersions — Depth. Enrichment. Expansion.
With Laura Tulumbas Juell E-RYT 500, Susanna Harwood Rubin E-RYT 500, Dana Covello E-RYT 500 and Eric Stoneberg E-RYT 500.
April 2013 ~ January 2014
Eric, Laura, Dana and Susanna have been teaching side by side for eleven years. They were part of Virayoga’s original Teacher Trainings in 2002 and 2003 and are thrilled to be joining forces to offer this first Virayoga Sagara Immersion to the community that they love.
The Virayoga Sagara Immersion provides students with a thorough knowledge of yoga asana, alignment, meditation, Ayurveda, pranayama, the history of yoga and tantric philosophy. This immersion is designed for students wanting to deepen their yoga practice as well as those preparing for teacher training.
“Sagara” is the Sanskrit word for ocean. Each immersion is designed as a gently engulfing experience that through shared practice, knowledge, discussion, and community, will draw students deeply into the heart of yoga and even more profoundly into their own lives.
Each immersion introduces new concepts and practices while considerably deepening the knowledge students already possess. Students will emerge from the Virayoga Sagara Immersion with in-depth knowledge of yoga principles and practices.

Inspired by Kali, whose fiery grace represents all possibilities, we will open our bodies to broaden our perspectives. Restorative, therapeutic, and hands-on practices will be learned as well as a series of meditation techniques and a thorough exploration of pranayama.
June Refinement and Grace - 9 hours
Lakshmi, goddess of beauty, indicates how we can wear our particular experiences and gifts as marks of distinction. Building on all of the previous sessions, we will make individualized plans of action for our yoga practices on and off the mat, refining our alignment, celebrating our community, and stepping into our own empowered individuality as practitioners of yoga.February 1, 2, 22, 23,, March 15, 16 – Registration is Closed for This Immersion!

We will begin by engaging the foundational structures that support our practice through a focus on the breath, our physical foundation, an introduction to Ayurveda, and the theme of Ganesh, remover of obstacles.
Part 2 From Reflection to Action -9 hours
As yogis, we link intention to action so that what we put out into the world is a direct reflection of who we are and of what we value. This week we will focus on alignment principles that stabilize and expand our bodies, acquiring a basic history of yoga and a knowledge of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.
Part 3 Creating Your Practice -9 hours
The process is the goal, the journey is the destination! Together we will immerse ourselves in the refinements of asana alignment and the rhythms of Ayurveda, inspired by the elegance and creativity of Nataraja’s dance.
